Good Evening Saints,
UPDATE: The prior email misspelled a candidate's name. This has been corrected. Apologies to all for that inadvertent mistake.
I hope everyone has enjoyed their holiday weekend!
As you may be aware, the Fairfax Circuit Court is filling a vacancy. NOVABAA, along with the Asian Pacific, and Hispanic Bar ("the Joint Panels") will be interviewing candidates. Five individuals have submitted for the vacancy, and the Joint Panels will be interviewing candidates this Thursday afternoon from 1:30pm to 3:00pm.
We are soliciting volunteers to participate on NOVABAA's Judicial Screening Committee. To participate in the interviews, you will need to come to a brief preliminary meeting on Wednesday September 8 at 8:00pm. If you are unable to attend the preliminary interview, you will not be able to participate in the actual interviews. At the preliminary meeting we will distribute the candidates' materials and NOVABAA's guidelines for participation on the Judicial Screening Committee.
The candidates for the Fairfax Circuit Court Vacancy are:
Judicial Selection is one of the most important functions that a Bar Association serves, and even more so with minority Bar Associations. We hope that you can put aside < 2 hours of your time on Wednesday (15 minutes) and Thursday (90 minutes) to assist with this important duty.
If interested, you will need to: (1) RSVP to this event (you will be sent the Zoom invite), (2) attend the < 15 minute preliminary meeting on Wednesday where we distribute materials necessary for the interview, and answer any questions; and (3) attend the interview on Thursday (if you can't attend the whole interview, that is fine).
Thank you again for all of your hard work and support!
