NOVABAA Kickoff to the 40th Anniversary & Holiday Party

This is it Saints! It's Official!  Registration is now open!   Forty years ago, a handful of African American attorneys, dismayed at the disrespect they'd received at a local bar association, sought to create something special.  Their goal was to create a bar association of their own that would serve as a safe space for African American Attorneys, and likewise foster advancement opportunities for African Americans, and other people of color in the legal community.

The organization that was subsequently created was the Northern Virginia Black Attorneys' Association, or "NOVABAA" for short.  From huddled dinner meetings at an Alexandria restaurant in the Fall of 1982 to boasting over 200 members in 2022, NOVABAA has come a very long way.  We expect to showcase the story of NOVABAA's origin and development over the course of the next year, and we believe that you will be as pleased at we are at our programming and lineup of events.

We will be kicking off our 40th Year Anniversary Celebration at our Holiday Party on Thursday, December 8, 2022.  This social night will have the PRIDE of Heritage High School, Newport News' own, the one, the only, DJ 5800, Hon. Dontae L. Bugg, on the wheels of steel.  There will also be a Karaoke Machine, spades tournament, other card games, trivia, food and libations.  The only thing that is missing, is you!

This event will be held at the Stacy C. Sherwood community center in Fairfax Virginia. The address is 3740 Old Lee Hwy, Fairfax, VA 22030 There is absolutely no charge for this event. However, due to rules outside of our control, this event will be STRICTLY RSVP.  Under the rules set forth by the community center, in order to have the event and serve alcohol, there MUST be a guest list.  Accordingly, if you want to attend, you will need to RSVP in advance - or risk watching us boogie from outside the windows!  More importantly, we need you to RSVP so that we can have a headcount estimate for food and libations.  (This means you must RSVP your guests as well).  Finally, there is a headcount limit.  While we do not anticipate exceeding that headcount, it's better to be safe than sorry.  RSVP early and put this can't miss event on your calendar. 6pm to 10pm on Thursday December 8, 2022 - the event of the year!
